About The Emblem
Cooperation, development, and program are the key words in the recognition of Catholic chartered units in earning the Pope Paul VI unit recognition award. The adult leadership responds to training not only in Scouting lores, but in training in the Catholic Scouter Development, and religious counseling. The Scouts in each Pack, Troop, Team, and Post respond by participating in the religious emblems program respective of their status in Scouting.
Unit must be chartered by a Catholic institution (Parish, Knights of Columbus).
-Two-deep leadershp with at least one unit leader having completed applicable BSA leader basic training.
-One or more registered adults has participated in a training program offered by local, diocesan, regional or national Catholic committee on Scouting.
-The unit committee annually reviews leadership for diocesan adult recognitions and St. George Emblem.
-The unit conducted a service project for its church, parish or diocesan community or chartered organization within the past 12 months. Briefly describe it.
-Unit provides annual presentation about religious emblems available to is members.
-At least 25 percent of youth members have or are actively working on the religious emblem appropriate to their levels or ages.
-Unit participated in a religious activity (e.g., retreat, day of recollection, religious conclave, pilgrimage or similar activity) within the past 12 months. List the Activity.
-Unit participated in an activity focused on church-related vocations (e.g., an orientation on vocations, training chaplain aides, visiting a seminary or house of religious formation, a career day or seminar that includes church-related vocations, or similar activity - see suggestions in the appropriate religious emblem program) within the past 12 months. List the activity.
-Chartered organization representative or unit committee member meets at least annually with a representative of local or diocesan Catholic committee on Scouting.
-Executive officer of chartered organization, unit committee chairman and council representative review unit program at least once a year.
-Unit has achieved or is actively working toward BSA Quality Unit Award.

The emblem will be presented to your Unit Leader at a formal ceremony and Mass. The location may vary from year to year, but typically it is at the Cathederal in Nashville. The leader will be given their award by the Bishop at the end of the Mass. Following the Mass there will be get together to share food and drinks. Scouts and Leaders will have an opportuntity to have their picture taken with the Bishop. Please see the calendar for the exact date.
